Kuwait Finance House (KFH) Chairman Samir Al-Nafisi stated that KFH has offered since the beginning of this year around KD 18 million as contributions to develop the society. He added that KD 16 million were donated to Zakat House to execute several charity projects in Kuwait and abroad; in addition to KD 1 million to execute phase two of medical emergency centers, and KD 1 million to support developmental fields, such as health and education. He asserted that it will remain committed to its social role and its local, regional, and global humanitarian initiatives as it had been during the first half of 2012 through making contributions to various social events and activities. It will also provide various forms of support for all society segments, in order to cement its role towards the society and to achieve sustainable development.
It is worth noting that KFH’s social contributions targeted sectors related to human development, such as education, health care, and youths. KFH’s contributions in those sectors varied between financial and moral support, and such support extended to reach overseas markets and societies where KFH is found.
In the education field, KFH sponsored high achievers who graduated from various colleges and institutions, in an attempt to improve the level of university graduates. Such efforts are evident by KFH’s honoring of the students of College of Business Administration and College of Engineering and Petroleum, not to mention sponsoring several promising projects executed by distinguished students every year; especially that KFH firmly believes that those projects are important and will meet the requirements of Kuwait.
Furthermore, KFH took part in sponsoring a job fair at College of Business Administration, and inaugurated a students’ lounge at the colleges of Pharmacy and Engineering and Petroleum. KFH has also sponsored an event for honoring teachers in recognition of their efforts in the education field.
In addition, KFH CEO Mohammed Al-Omar gave a lecture at GUST, where he offered them advice, based on his extensive experience in the field of Islamic banking. Al-Omar stressed the importance of persistence in becoming successful in their careers. KFH has also sponsored a trip made by Mass Communication students to Dubai, and the graduation ceremony of Geography Section students.
It is worth noting that KFH honors top high school achievers every year to encourage them to continue their academic excellence. KFH also caters to the needs of the disabled, where it organized a visit to Al-Nour School for disabled children, in an attempt to merge this segment with other society segments. KFH took part in festivals organized by the Ministry of Education to teach students the importance of saving money, in addition to organizing visits to some schools.
In the health sector, KFH continued its role in raising awareness against diabetes, in order to limit its effects, and to create a society that is disease-free to develop Kuwait. In addition, KFH took part in Blood Donation Day, and organized a day for its employees to donate blood. KFH’s social contributions in the health sector extended to include sponsoring the activities of the Kuwait Medical Association and assisting it in shouldering its responsibilities towards the society. It is worth noting that KFH has provided some specialized authorities with medical equipment and medicine.
